Copyright is a powerful form of protection provided to Architects by the laws of the United States (
title 17, U. S. Code) as the authors of "original works of authorship," including artistic, and certain other intellectual works.
Such protection prohibits unauthorized copying of a building's overall form, interior arrangement of spaces and original design elements as well as the original drawings.
Violette Architecture / Interior Design as the sole owner of copyright, retains the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:
- To reproduce the work in copies
- To prepare derivative works based upon the work
- To distribute copies of the work to the public by sale or other transfer or lending
- To display the work publicly, in the case of pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work and by means of digital transmission in the form of this web site
In addition, the rights of attribution and integrity are retained as described in section 106A of the 1976 Copyright Act authors of works of visual art.
It is illegal for anyone to violate any of the rights provided by the copyright law to the Architect as owner of copyright.
